Air Abrasion - Microdentistry
Our office now offers a gentle new "drill-less" technology that can frequently be used in place of or in conjunction with the drill to make procedures more comfortable.
Air abrasion technology allows us to do many repairs to teeth without the noise and vibration of the drill. This can often be done without dental anesthetics (freezing).
Appointments do not take very long and children love it. It feels like a "cleaning" appointment. Parents have been very impressed that their children are so comfortable with our dentistry.
Air abrasion enhances how well we bond materials to teeth. This produces longer lasting restorations and reduces sensitivity. Thanks to this new technology, we can provide you with attractive tooth-coloured fillings faster and easier than ever before!
The small particle air abrasion units that we have allow us to do many small and moderate fillings without any anesthesia. This speeds up the appointment for you and sometimes allows us to combine appointments to save you trips to our office (we know that most people would rather be somewhere else!). The unit uses very small sand particles to abrade the tooth with little or no heat buildup. You sometimes feel a little sensation of cold, but usually very little.
