If you’ve lost a tooth, you have the option of restoring it with a Dental Implant.
For years, the only choices for people with lost teeth were bridges and dentures. When you lost teeth, you also lost facial support. That’s serious. Your bite would start to collapse and your facial features would become distorted.
Aged, worn, and missing teeth can add years onto the look of your smile and face.
Today’s dental implants don’t just restore missing teeth, they can improve the appearance of your face and smile.
Rejuvenate Your Smile
With the miracle of Dental Implants, you get another chance at health and beauty. You can restore missing teeth AND rejuvenate your smile and facial features.
A worn-down bite can be rebuilt. This adds height back to a face that has gradually collapsed from worn down teeth. It’s amazing what a few extra millimeters of teeth can do for your overall appearance.
Your Toronto Implant Dentist can replace those missing teeth with dental implants that will provide new support for your bite and face.
How Do Dental Implants Work?
To receive a dental implant, you need healthy gums and good bone support. Your West Toronto Implant Dentist will surgically implant a metal post into your jawbone, beneath the gums, at the location of the missing tooth. Once this artificial root has healed, a replacement tooth can be mounted onto the post.
A dental implant is designed to last a long time. The “10-year survival rate” is very high, depending on where it’s placed in the mouth and how well you care for it.
Be sure to maintain regular visits to your dentist.
What Can I Expect with Dental Implant Surgery?
Dental implants often require different stages of surgery. To start, schedule a comprehensive dental exam with your Implant Dentist. You will need dental X-rays and models made of your mouth to prepare for your dental implant surgery. Special 3D images are often needed to help determine the thickness and density of your bone.
During the surgery, you’ll be given local anesthesia so you won’t feel a thing. You can choose Sedation-Sleep Dentistry as an option. Most people are pleasantly surprised that the surgery is not nearly as complicated or difficult as they anticipated.
After the dental implant post is placed in your jawbone, there’s typically a healing period where we wait for the bone to grow around the implant. Once healing is complete, the actual tooth component is placed and you can begin chewing your favorite foods again.
Caring for Your Dental Implant
The beauty of dental implants is you can care for them as you do the rest of your smile. Treat them like real teeth, with frequent brushing and flossing.
Dental Implants are vulnerable to gum infections just like your natural teeth. Daily hygiene maintenance is essential for long-term health.
Tips for maintaining your new Dental Implant:
- An electric brush is helpful to getting in and around your Dental Implant. Choose a high-quality brush such as the Oral-B or Sonicare.
- Cleaning between your implant and the adjacent teeth is important. Floss and other devices such as a Sulcabrush or Proxabrush will remove any food particles or bacterial plaque from around margin of where your implant crown meets the gumline.
- An antibacterial mouthrinse can help reduce plaque buildup around your implant. Avoid alcohol-based rinses that are harsh to your oral tissues.
- Visit your Toronto Implant Dentist in Etobicoke for regular dental checkup and hygiene maintenance. An interval of every 3-4 months is advised to ensure the long-term health of your Dental Implant.

I am very pleased with RYD. I have already mentioned your office to several friends and family after only two visits. Thanks for a great dental experience.
I was so pleased to go to a progressive and state of the art dental office (not to mention so close to home!) and so attuned with new dentistry proceedures and techniques.
I get that easy, calm feeling you get when someone is taking care of you, like when you are sitting in the chair getting a good hair cut or a shoe shine or a massage. Totally relaxed, being cared for by a pro at what they do.
When you can balance the feel of a large office and still make each patient feel like the only patient you have created something special, well done.
The staff is always friendly! My hygienist Shaili could be the most pleasant person on the planet. They're also incredible with my children, who really don't mind going to the dentist!
After many years of superb care, I'm still delighted by your passion for improvement. Olya always remembers how to make me comfortable and teaches me techniques to improve my dental health between visits.
No one likes a trip to the dentist, but because all the staff are sensitive to the patient's needs, even my children look forward to visiting! Thank you for the top-notch service you provide.
I used to be afraid of the dentist and hated to go. I even made up excuses and missed appointments. Since reading your ad "we cater to kids of all ages" over 14 years ago, I have never looked back.
Once again, Dr. Bulger, you and your team of professionals were there for me! One visit – you put me together - it’s a miracle - now I am able to smile with confidence. Wow! Thank you!
I am a returning patient, after living out of town for the past 5 years, and I look forward to receiving my dental services again from Royal York Dental. It gives me real comfort to know that I can trust the quality, service and cleanliness provided by this team.
A dental professional told me "You have to go to Royal York Dental. I've spent well over 20 hours in the chair to complete all the work for my smile. I LOVE my new smile and I can't tell you how many positive comments I've received to date.
Going to the dentist has become such a treat since I've started coming to Royal York Dental! I feel confident that from the moment I walk through the doors, I will be well taken care of.

i would like to add that placing an implant in the space previously occupied by a tooth is of extreme importance. What people don’t know is that jawbone needs a reason to be there. Without a tooth it melts away! It does not grow back. A dental implant fools the jawbone into “thinking” it’s a tooth root, so it does not melt. An implant should be placed whithin 3-4 months of loosing a tooth. Since bone melts fastest in the first year, the longer we wait, the less bone to hold the implant!
